Position Info:

• Position: Sushi Chef
• Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent 
• Wage: $38.50/hour
• Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week 
• Number of Positions: 2
• Work Location: 5935 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC V5B 1R7

Job Duties:

• Prepare and present a variety of Japanese specialties, including nigiri, sashimi, and specialty sushi rolls, using traditional and modern sushi-making techniques
• Develop new sushi recipes and introduce creative menu items to enhance the restaurant’s offerings
• Plan sushi menu selections and maintain consistent standards for food quality, freshness, flavour, and presentation
• Oversee daily sushi preparation and coordinate kitchen activities to ensure efficient food service
• Supervise sushi cooks and other kitchen staff to maintain consistent preparation methods and service standards
• Train kitchen employees in sushi-making techniques, proper knife handling, food preparation, and presentation
• Monitor ingredient requirements and estimate the quantities and costs of seafood, produce, and other kitchen supplies
• Order seafood, rice, and other ingredients and supplies required for daily kitchen operations
• Prepare customized sushi dishes for customers with food allergies, intolerances, or special dietary requirements

Job requirements:

• Experience: 3-5 years of commercial cooking experience in Japanese cuisine is required
• Education: Completion of secondary school is required 
• Language: English
