Salary: $22.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide in-home childcare within the employer’s private residence in North York, Ontario, ensuring the safety, well-being, and healthy development of their three youngest children, ages 7, 9 and 13. The ideal candidate will create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment while supporting the children’s daily routines, including meal preparation, age-appropriate personal care, school and extracurricular transportation, homework supervision, and recreational activities. The private household consists of the parents, who are also the employers, and their four children, ages 7, 9, 13 and 17.

Optional live-in housing is available to the caregiver at no cost but is not required for employment. This position has an immediate start date.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide in-home care to three school-aged children, ages 7, 9 and 13, within the employers’ private residence in North York, ensuring their overall safety, well-being and development;
• Supervise and assist with daily care routines of children, including homework, meals, rest periods and after-school schedules in accordance with parental instructions;
• Regularly communicate updates on the progress and concerns of the children to the employers;
• Prepare and provide meals and snacks tailored to the children’s dietary needs and preferences;
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe household environment by tidying children’s areas and performing light housekeeping tasks related to their care;
• Assist the younger children with dressing, personal hygiene and other daily self-care routines as needed, and encourage age-appropriate independence for the older child;
• Maintain the children’s safety and promote their emotional well-being through verbal encouragement and appropriate support;
• Follow the parents’ preferred methods for guidance and discipline;
• Organize and provide children with safe and engaging activities suited to their ages, such as reading, crafts, sports and outdoor activities;
• Pick up and drop off children to and from school, extracurricular activities and appointments as needed;
• Keep brief daily notes or records on activities, meals and general well-being when requested by the employer; and
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school is required;
• Minimum 2 years of experience in childcare related role(s) is required;
• Must have demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care plus supervision for school-aged children and young adolescents (ages 7 to 13);
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred but not required;
• Fluency in written and verbal English is required; and
• Must be reliable and have strong organization, time management and communication skills.
